Lighting design developed and executed for 235media, Cologne
The exhibtition in spring 2010 featured 49 projects of european architecture to show what the state of the art actually is.
The whole Zeche Zollverein is listed as world heritage which basically means that noone is allowed to drill a hole in any wall. The lighting design takes full account of this condition and uses lighting modules which are laid into the funnels. A scrim stretched into a frame is used as diffuser to create a soft lighting. The exhibits are highlighted by low-voltage-halogen-spots which are supported by a grid of metal ropes. These ropes are wrapped around the existing columns in the hall.
